In the X\u00e0tiva cemetery, there is evidence of the existence of two mass graves. The first is occupied by those who lost their lives in the bombing of the X\u00e0tiva railway station and were never claimed by relatives, many of whom were unaware of the fate of their loved ones. In the other unidentified mass grave lie the remains of those who died as a result of defending the legitimate government of the Republic.<\/span><\/p>\n

The erected sculpture serves to honor the memory of the victims of the executions and as a point of remembrance and respect for their families. Its author, Inmaculada Abarca, titled it “Sempreviva,” with the intention of conveying the message that, just like this plant, which although it appears withered, retains life and the ability to resurge, humans also have the ability to resurge, despite acts of barbarism, thanks to perseverance and the fight to recover memory.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years, the Setabense society has promoted actions to repair the memory of all those who were buried in the mass graves of the X\u00e0tiva cemetery, both through associations and institutions.
