It was a building constructed in the 18th century as a veterans&#8217; barracks. Some survived and were eventually released over the years, although the scars of repression accompanied them for the rest of their lives. An example of this was the imprisonment of Jos\u00e9 Aragon\u00e9s Saborit, a sculptor by profession, married to Patrocinio Cam\u00fas, and one of the political leaders of the municipal scene during the Republic.
